Characteristics: Skimmia japonica Rubella is a bushy habited, evergreen shrub. The foliage of the plant is a glossy, dark green colour - a great offset for the red budding in Winter and elegant white flowering in Spring.

Growth & Spread: This gorgeous shrub has an ultimate height and spread of 1-1.5m respectively.

Period of Interest: Provides year-round, colourful interest for borders and pots. The budding in Winter will show up in a substantial batch of red colouring. It then produces scented white flowering in the Spring months of March and April.

Water & Maintenance: Position the plant in partial shade and avoid full sun as that can cause damage to the leaves colour. Moist, well-drained soil is best for it, as well as watering it well in the first year whilst it establishes itself. Prolonged, drier periods of the year should also see more consistent watering.
